Located in Dover, TN, Piney Campground is a peaceful and welcoming destination for camping enthusiasts. The campground features beautiful campsites that allow campers to connect with nature. The bathrooms are clean with decent maintenance but require updates. The shower facilities need improvement, as they often give luke-warm water, have non-functioning heaters, and rusted walls. The laundry facilities are available outdoors. Some machines don’t work, and during seasonal changes, machine removal occurs without prior notice. The wind off the lake or river can be intense during winters making spending time outside challenging but guests can enjoy scenic views. Though the trails available on the property are overgrown and need periodic maintenance, the surrounding area, historical sites, mountain biking trails, and nice nature spots make up for it. The staff from the USFS seems helpful but need to step up their maintenance efforts so that the playground for kids and trash facilities can be improved. A few year-long residents seem to be selling or hoarding items in their campground sites, which doesn’t give an ideal camping experience. Overall, despite some shortcomings, Piney Campground offers an excellent experience for first-time campers who are looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway.
