Flat Rock Campground is a secluded and beautiful campground located in the foothills of the Appalachians. It offers superb and challenging hiking trails, fire rings, picnic tables, and a port-a-potty. The primitive tent area along a creek branch and the primitive hike-in areas are perfect for those who want to get away from people. The campground also features a library with a modest collection of books, a wooden bridge, a creek with easy access, and a bear safe storage container. It is also close to the historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. The campground is well-maintained and the showers are equipped with cedar benches, safety rails, and a mobile shower head. There is also a Visitors Center with helpful staff and a 1 bar Verizon service.

Frozen Head State Park is located in Cumberland Mountains among some of the tallest peaks in the state. The park offers three camping experiences including rustic camping at Big Cove Campground, primitive camping at Flat Fork Campground, and backcountry camping at one of nine sites.
