What others are saying about this campground
Lost Maples is a beautiful, remote campground located in a valley surrounded by canyon walls. It is a great destination for hikers and campers of all levels, with eight separate primitive camping areas ranging from 1-5 miles of hiking into the parks trail system. There are designated gravel sites with covered picnic tables for RV and tent campers, as well as primitive camping spots. The park offers plenty of shade and covered picnic tables, and the views from the top of the canyon are breathtaking. In the autumn, the park is especially beautiful with the changing leaves, and it is often busy during the first three weeks of November. There is a general store in the nearby small town of Vanderpool for basic supplies, and the park rangers drive through the park 3-4 times a day. The park is pet friendly and offers a great escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

From The Campground
Lost Maples State Natural Area is a beautiful park located in Texas, just two hours northwest of San Antonio. The park is known for its Uvalde bigtooth maples, which turn spectacular colors of red, orange, and yellow in the fall. Visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, birding, stargazing, and hunting for geocaches. The park offers 30 campsites with water and electricity, as well as primitive campsites for backpackers. There are over 10 miles of trails to explore, including a loop that takes you along the top of a 2,200-foot cliff. The park is home to a wide variety of birds, including the endangered golden-cheeked warbler and the recently de-listed black-capped vireo.
