Lake Tawakoni State Park is a beautiful park located in Wills Point, TX. The park offers a primitive group campsite for up to 48 people, as well as a trading post that sells souvenirs, ice, firewood, cold drinks and snacks, and fishing bait and tackle. The park also offers ranger-led nature programs and special events throughout the year. Kids can become Junior Rangers and pick up a free activity journal or borrow an explorer pack. The park is within easy driving distance of Dallas and Fort Worth, as well as a number of smaller towns with museums, restaurants and more. Entrance fees are $5 for adults and free for children 12 years and under. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and often reaches capacity, so reservations are recommended for both camping and day use. The park has a January average low of 30 degrees and a July average high of 95 degrees, with an average rainfall of 42.4 inches. Nearby state parks, historic sites, and state natural areas include Purtis Creek State Park, Tyler State Park, Cooper Lake State Park, and Cedar Hill State Park.
