What others are saying about this campground
We took the free van tour on the Ajo Mountain drive, and had two enthusiastic rangers talk about the cactus, wildflowers and birds in the park. Quitobaquito is a campground located in one of the harshest environments on Earth, yet it offers a peaceful and serene experience. It is a spring-fed lagoon, with plenty of sites to choose from, each with a concrete pad, picnic table, and grill surrounded by cacti and desert vegetation. There are plenty of activities to do, such as exploring the remains of a turn of the century ranch, day trips into Mexico, and many long and short hikes. In the off-season, many bathrooms are closed, but late check-in is easy and the restrooms are clean and well kept. There is water throughout the park, nice restrooms, and two with hot showers. The campground is hilly and provides plenty of privacy, and the night sky is full of stars. Gas and a convenience store are available in Lukeville, 5 miles away, but it is best to stock up on supplies in Ajo. The free van tour on the Ajo Mountain drive is a must-do, and the campground is safe and quiet.
