What others are saying about this campground
Requires permit from Grand Canyon National Park. Luna Lake Campground is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nestled in a pine forest near the lake, the campground offers spacious sites, a boat ramp, and plenty of opportunities for bird watching and kayaking. The lake is unfortunately covered in thick green sludge, a seasonal algal bloom that discourages swimming or even kayaking, but the nearby town of Alpine offers a little store with food and camping items, a couple of restaurants, and a nice bar. The campground is a US Forrest Service campground, so there are limited amenities, but they do have a boat ramp, allow tent camping, trailer and RV parking, picnic tables at all sites, toilets nearby, and really cold drinking water from a natural spring. The pull through sites tend to be short with a sharp turn, so it is recommended to get a reservation from the website. The roads are a bit washboard, but the campground is very clean and the camp host John is very friendly and helpful.
