What others are saying about this campground
Lakeview Campground is a great spot for campers and tenters alike. With access to a 132 acre lake, it offers plenty of opportunities for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The sites are spacious and well-maintained, with fire pits and picnic tables. There is water available, but no hookups. The restrooms are clean and the campground is peaceful and quiet. Weekdays are usually not an issue for securing a site, but it can fill up in the summer months. There is a 14 day stay limit and the 50 mile drive from Interstate 10 can be a bit rough, but is paved the entire way. With beautiful sunsets, a great trail around the lake, and plenty of wildlife, this is a great spot to rest your head for a few days.

From The Campground

Lakeview Campground is located on a hill overlooking Parker Canyon Lake in the Coronado National Forest. The campsites are spread among a stand of oaks and junipers. From the campground, it is just a short walk to the lakeshore or a short drive to the boat launch ramp, fishing pier, paved parking areas, and paved walkways, all of which are accessible to persons with disabilities. The campground is generally less crowded than similar areas that are more easily accessible. The 5-mile trail around the lake has several viewing areas complete with benches and interpretive signs. Two of the viewing areas are barrier-free. It is an excellent place to view the waterfowl that either live at the lake or use it as a stopover on their seasonal migration. Bald eagles and osprey are also frequently sighted here, as are Coues white-tailed deer and an occasional extended family of coatimundi, those long-tailed, long-nosed southwestern cousins of the raccoon. The campground has 65 sites, including accessible sites, and amenities such as picnic tables, toilets, and drinking water. The fee for a single site is $20, but with a Golden Age/Access or Interagency Senior/Access pass, it is $10. Boating is allowed on the lake, but there is a 10 hp motor limit. Pack and saddle stock are not permitted in the campground. Properly licensed motorbikes may be used only for entering or leaving campgrounds. Black bears are common in the area.
