From The Campground

Tuweep Campground is located in a remote area of Grand Canyon National Park, accessible only by high clearance vehicles. The campground offers stunning views of the Toroweap Overlook and the Colorado River. Visitors can enjoy hiking on two established trails, Tuckup Trail and Saddle Horse Loop Trail, both offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The campground is situated at an elevation of 4500ft on the Esplanade, a high desert area with mild winters and hot summers. Wildlife includes coyotes, mule deer, jackrabbits, rodents, and numerous species of birds and reptiles. The campground is named after the local white settlement, Tuweep, which in Paiute means 'the earth'.
