Nestled in the city of Holbrook, Arizona, the Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA Journey is a great option for RV campers who are looking for a peaceful and well-maintained campground. Although some guests have noted that there can be some highway and train noise, the campground has a well-kept facilities and clean amenities. The gravel pull-through sites are spacious, with some locations provided with dog pens to accommodate furry campers as well. Let Holbrook/Petrified Forest KOA be your base camp to explore all the surrounding National Parks and Monuments. Easy access to I-40 gets you to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park (20 minutes). Take a day trip to the Grand Canyon (2.5 hours), Canyon de Chelly (1.5+ hours), Monument Valley (2.5+ hours), or Fort Apache (1.5 hours). Walk around the rim of Meteor Crater, less than an hour west. Or stop at the Hubbell Trading Post (a National Historic Site) on the Navajo Reservation. In Holbrook, drive through town on the original Route 66 (don't miss the Wigwam Motel). Check out the museum of Historic Route 66 and The Hashknife Outfit – one of the west's largest cattle ranches. Back at the campground, relax, enjoy a stunning sunset.
