Windy Hill Campground is a beautiful upper Sonoran Desert lakeside campground located in the Tonto National Forest. It features paved roads and sites, good Verizon cell reception, and stunning views of the lake and sunset. The campground has several loops named after desert animals, each with covered picnic tables and fire pits. There are no hook-ups, but there are water spigots to fill up containers throughout the campground. There are flush toilets and solar showers, as well as dumpsters located in each loop. For a fee, visitors can purchase a Tonto pass at a local business or pre-purchase it online. The campground is very quiet on weekdays and has a 32 foot limit on RVs, though larger RVs can usually fit in the sites. It is a great value for dry camping and is a great spot to coincide with bass spawn in Roosevelt Lake. The dump station is located up the road and is open only on certain days of the week.
