But the main area in the back is much better maintained, and sites are level gravel. The people here are obviously long timers, and it’s a constant hubbub of activity with people chatting, driving their ATVs in and out, the RV Proctologist (you read that right) coming in and out for repairs, and neighbors gathering around the campfire. Full price per website is $30 but they offer a variety of discounts, including Escapees and Good Sam. A nice perk at this park: there are a variety of citrus trees (different types of oranges and lemons) throughout that you can pick when in season. Good AT&T and Verizon reception, i.e. high bars, but for some reason service was so slow as to be almost unusable, even in non-peak times. Desert Gem is a pleasant campground with 50 or so spaces, clean restrooms and showers, fruit trees, shade trees, and plenty of walking and ATV trails. The park is older but well kept, and the owner is friendly and improving the park. The electrical hookups have 30/20 amps but not 50, and the WiFi costs $1 per day, $4 per week, $10 per month. The water pressure is set so low that the washing machines dont even fill up. There are several pull through sites for big rigs, and a variety of discounts are offered, including Escapees and Good Sam. The campground hosts weekly card games, potlucks, Halloween, Christmas and New Years activities. The best part of the park is that you can ride your quad from the gate in any direction and immediately be on many challenging mountain trails (unmarked) with grand views and many mines to look at. Good AT&T and Verizon reception is available, but the service is slow.
