Idlewilde Campground is located in the Coronado National Forest and is the first campground you encounter as you enter Cave Creek Canyon from the east. The campground is best suited for camping in tents, vans, or pickup truck campers, as no trailers are permitted. The area is well known for its spectacular scenery and excellent birding, and a short distance from the entrance, you’ll find the trailhead for the Cave Creek Nature Trail. The campground offers 9 forested sites with picnic tables and fire grills, and amenities include toilets, drinking water, and parking. The campground is open from May 1st to October 31st and has a 14-day stay limit. The fee for a single site is $20, with discounts available for Golden Age/Access or Interagency Senior/Access pass holders. Reservations are not accepted, and all sites are first come, first served.
