Gunsight Wash is a great spot for camping close to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. It is located on BLM land, and offers free camping for up to 14 days. There is plenty of room to spread out, and the area is mostly level. It is close to the highway, so there is some road noise, but it is not too bad. It can be difficult to find at night, but once you locate the dirt road that passes through the gate, there are plenty of places to camp. There are no services available, such as bathrooms, water, or trash, but the nearby town of Why offers a gas station, convenience store, and restaurant. A few miles further is Ajo, AZ, which has more in the way of restaurants and grocery stores. The area is peaceful and quiet, and is perfect for stargazing on a clear night. There are also plenty of hiking and biking opportunities nearby.
