What others are saying about this campground
Kern River Campground in Bakersfield, CA is an excellent riverfront campground for fishing, tubing, and other outdoor activities. The winter runoff and high water levels of the Kern River add to the scenic beauty of the surrounding area. The privacy of the campsites is well-designed with ample spacing between sites and big trees that provide shade during the day. The camp host is friendly and always ready to assist with any needs. Although the bathroom and shower facilities are being upgraded, they are currently under construction and outside of the campground. In the meantime, the porta-potties are kept very clean. The only downside is the extra fees charged on top of the base rate, including a non-refundable reservation fee, a per-dog per-night fee, an overflow vehicle parking fee, and a second vehicle fee. Overall, Kern River Campground is a great place to camp, and visitors can enjoy hiking trails, rolling green hills, geese, grebes, egrets, squirrels, and raccoons.
