What others are saying about this campground
New Brighton State Beach in Capitola, CA is a beautiful and dog-friendly park with a trail leading down to the beach. Visitors have reported sites that are large, shady, and private, while some are sunny. There are good options for both big rigs and smaller vehicles. The interior road is quite winding and narrow, so drivers need to be careful. Some sites have electrical and water hookups, but most are for dry camping. There is a two-lane dump and sanitary station. Visitors have reported varying internet speeds depending on their carriers. Verizon was fast enough but required cellular band locking during peak times. T-Mobile and AT&T had fast enough speeds, but without a speed test measurement. Rangers were helpful and accommodating. The views are great, and there is direct access to the beach.

From The Campground

Named for the famed coastal resort in England, the beautiful beach and bluffs of New Brighton have drawn visitors—human and animal alike—for centuries. The forested bluffs offer a campground, hiking trails, and sweeping views of Monterey Bay just steps from a sandy shore perfect for fishing, beach combing, and (in warmer months) swimming. The Pacific Migrations Visitor Center in the New Brighton State Beach campground interprets natural and cultural history by examining the movements of human and animal populations around the Pacific Rim from season to season and year to year. The visitor center includes a park store and welcomes visitors in the summer.
