This campground offers a unique beach camping experience with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. It is located off the Pacific Coast Highway in the town of Cardiff and is the main access to the beach for the town. The campsites are located atop a beachside bluff and offer spectacular sunsets and views of the surf and people. The sites are closely packed in and there is not much privacy, but the campground is walkable to a descent grocery store, cafes, and restaurants. There are also plenty of shops and food spots up the highway in downtown Encinitas. The campground offers full hookup sites and although they state maximum length is 24, many RVs parked in these spots are 30 and longer. The bathrooms are well maintained and very clean, and showers require tokens which you can purchase from the kiosks scattered about the grounds. There is a double sided dump station with faucets to fill your drink water tank. The campground also has a snack bar, and a camp store which is currently closed due to the pandemic. It is a great place to pitch a tent with friends, go surfing all day, and then come back to drink beer and sleep.

Located on the San Diego Coast, San Elijo State Beach offers camping, swimming, surfing, showers and picnicking. The narrow, bluff-backed stretch of sand has a nearby reef popular with snorkelers and divers.
