What others are saying about this campground
Do not recommend bringing a bigger rig in here than about 25 ft. Castle Crags State Park is a beautiful campground located just a couple of miles off of the highway, perfect for those long days on the road. The campgrounds are well equipped with grates, picnic tables, bathrooms with running water, and plenty of dry wood. There are trails to the Sacramento River, perfect for fishing, and nearby hikes to Black Butte and Castle Lake. The Upper Loop is densely wooded and sites don’t seem as on top of each other as other campgrounds. The gas station down the street has a large selection of beer and other amenities. Unfortunately, the campground is close to the highway and road noise can be heard at night. Bears in the area are used to people, so it is important to lock up food and any other items with scent in the bear box. Reservations can be made online during the most active camping months. However, due to the road noise, it is not recommended to bring a bigger rig in here than about 25 ft.
