Enjoy the sound of the waves and beautiful ocean views at Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado, CA. Upgrade your site to a beachfront location for a reasonable extra fee and take in the stunning scenery from your window. Although the park is a bit tight, it leaves enough room for slides and awnings. The campgrounds are all asphalt with water and electricity hookups, and theres a dump station on-site if needed. Larger spaces are available for ASA visitors. Although the spaces are relatively close together, privacy is still valued, and people take appropriate measures to respect one another. There is a pedestrian walkway under the highway that leads to San Diego Bay. Dogs are allowed at the park but not on the beach. The area can get busy, given the nearby Navy base and training site, but the location on or near the beach is unbeatable. The weather is often cooler than inland during the summertime, so take advantage of the 50 amp service and water hookups available throughout the park. A single sewer dump is available, and the fee is only $10. Its a great place for beach clean-up, and theres a beach shower outside for use. Although the park is more like an RV parking lot at the beach, it creates a tailgating party atmosphere thats enjoyable for all. While campfires arent allowed, the nearby beach makes for a great spot to hang out with friends. The park follows a strict vehicle traffic gate-lock policy, with closures from 7p-7a or later during peak season. The restrooms are closed at this time as well, but they are usually clean. No private hot showers are available, but the beach shower outside does the trick. Its important to note that washing outside your RV isnt allowed. The park isnt within walking distance of other area attractions, so plan accordingly. The rangers are diligent and announce closing 30 minutes before locking up the gates and restrooms. Overall, Silver Strand State Beach is a fantastic place to enjoy the beauty of the ocean and everything it has to offer.

Silver Strand State Beach is a beautiful recreation destination located on the sand-spit that forms the outer edge of San Diego Bay between Coronado and Imperial Beach. The park has 2 ½ miles of ocean beach and ½ mile on the bay. Camping, swimming, surfing, boating, water-skiing, volleyball, and picnicking are popular activities. Anglers can fish for perch, corbina, grunion and yellow-fin croaker. The bay side of the park offers views of San Diego Bay. Three pedestrian tunnels lead from the parking lots under the highway to the bay side of the park. The water in the bay area is usually warmer and calmer, perfect for swimming and sailing. South of the developed area, there are one and a half miles of ocean and natural preserve. Strolling along the beach, visitors may see moon snail shells, cockle shells, and an occasional sand dollar in the sand.
