From The Campground

Redwood National Park Campgrounds offer two options for dispersed camping: Redwood Creek Gravel Bar and 44 Camp. Redwood Creek Gravel Bar is the only area in the park where dispersed camping is permitted. Dispersed camping is allowed anywhere on the gravel bars no closer than ¼-mile (½-km) of the Tall Trees Grove and 1.5 miles from the Redwood Creek Trailhead (not accessible in winter due to high creek levels). 44 Camp is located in the Redwood Creek area, and campers can walk through old-growth redwoods to reach the campsite. Both campsites offer picnic tables, fire pits, and bear-proof lockers. Treat water from nearby creek. Free backcountry camping permit required.
