GenieSummary
Jed Smith State Park is a beautiful campground nestled among the northern redwoods of the Redwood Highway. The interior roads are narrow and winding, and the sites are tucked in between the giant trees. Many of the sites are tight and can be difficult to back into, but they are private and offer a great view of the surrounding redwoods. There are no hookups, but there is a dump station and water fill. There are also a number of hiking trails in the park and surrounding area, and a river at the edge of the park. The campground host is friendly and helpful, and the campground is generally well-maintained. Cell phone service is spotty, and satellite TV is nearly impossible due to the extensive tree canopy. Bears are present, but sightings are rare. The park is open year-round, although some loops are closed during certain times of the year. This is a great place to camp for those who love dense forests and lots of space between them and their neighbors.
