The Douglas City Campground is a hidden gem in California, located about 10 miles south of Weaverville. This small, cozy campground is situated along the meandering Trinity River, with plenty of level sites and stunning views of the river and mountains. Its a great spot for tenters and RVers alike, with pull-through and back-in sites that are nicely paved and mostly level. There are no hook-ups, but the campground does provide two portapotties. The days can be hot, but the night temperatures drop nicely after the sun goes down behind the mountain. Theres plenty of wildlife to enjoy, including bats, birds, and the river is filled with iron lyrite/fools gold. There are also a few spots that provide more shade and privacy. The campground host is knowledgeable and helpful, and the campground is generally quiet, although there have been some issues with noise from generators.

Douglas City Campground is a first-come, first-served campground located along the Trinity River in California. The campground has 20 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents, all of which are shaded by Ponderosa pines and Douglas firs. Restrooms with flush toilets and sinks, as well as potable water, are available. The campground is open mid-May through November, weather permitting. Popular activities include fishing, rafting, and swimming in the Trinity River, as well as gold panning. Nearby attractions include Lewiston Lake and the Trinity Fly Shop.
