What others are saying about this campground
Millerton Lake SRA Campground is a great place to stay for a peaceful and quiet getaway. With a gate code to enter late at night, visitors can enjoy their stay without worrying about the gate closing earlier than expected. The Mono Loop offers wonderful views and private sites, even during record heat and local fires. Bathrooms are so-so with regard to cleanliness, but sites have their own access to water which is a great bonus. The lake levels are low in September, but it is said to be higher and more accessible in the spring and early summer. There are plenty of activities to do at the campground, such as hiking, biking, fishing, and boating. There are 21 full hookup sites in the Meadow Loop area, as well as flat RV hookup sites. The campground is very quiet and peaceful, even on the weekend before Labor Day. There are plenty of positives, such as great bathrooms, spacious sites, beautiful lake views, and the ability to back a pop-up camper. There are also a few negatives, such as no flat areas, no trees for shade, and full dumpsters. There is a slight slope towards the back of the RV sites, and the closest gas station is 16 miles away. Cell service is strong, but there is no WiFi. It is a nice place to relax, but there is no telephone or TV.

From The Campground
With over 40 miles of shore land for water sports, this SRA offers visitors swimming, fishing, and boating. The hills surrounding the lake provide good hiking opportunities. Wildlife in the park includes ground squirrels, cottontails, mule deer, badgers and bald and golden eagles. During winter, the park has special boat tours to view the bald eagles. The lake was created by construction of the Friant Dam across the San Joaquin River in 1944. The park’s camping facilities include boat camping. The park contains the original Millerton County Courthouse, built in 1867. The weather can be changeable; layered clothing is recommended.
