GenieSummary

Anchor Bay Campground is a small, privately owned campground located on the edge of the ocean in Gualala, California. With approximately 30 sites, it offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the coast with a short walk to the beach. The campsites are relatively small, but all have water spouts, picnic tables, and fire pits, and some have electrical hookups. The campground also offers hot coin-operated showers and clean restrooms. A short trail takes campers to a small town with a grocery store, coffee shop, laundry mat, and two restaurants. WiFi is available for those who need it, and cell service is available in the sites closest to the water. The beach is open to dogs, and a wood fire is allowed even in areas with campfire restrictions. Anchor Bay is a great place to stay for a night or two, and is a popular spot for those who have been coming back for years.

From The Campground

Anchor Bay Campground is a small, six-acre privately-owned campground located right on the Pacific Ocean along Mendocino County’s scenic Highway One. Situated in a narrow gulch filled with native redwood trees, ferns, and coastal flora, it opens up into the secluded 1/2-mile-long Anchor Bay Beach. The campground has 27 overnight camping spots (4 in the redwoods and 23 at or on the beach) and 40 owned spots. Each camp spot has a water hook up, picnic table, and fire pit. Some sites have electricity and/or sewer dump. The restrooms have showers (coin-op), flush toilets, hot water, and electrical outlets. The campground also has a septic dump station, and a recreation area with sinks and picnic tables. The fish house is available to clean fish or crab, and to wash down wet suits. We sell ice, bait, firewood, and apparel at the campground office. On the bluff that overlooks the beach, connected by a short trail from the campground, is Anchor Bay Village, which provides for most of our camper’s needs. Anchor Bay Village features the Anchor Bay Store (an organic-based grocery store), The White Cap Cafe (a local favorite that offers coffee and pastries), and eateries including a Thai restaurant and a Mexican restaurant. There is also a coin-op laundry mat, yoga studio, hair salon, and massage therapist.
