From The Campground

Dark Canyon Campground is a forested campground located approximately fifty miles southeast of San Bernardino and 8 miles North of Idyllwild. The campground is situated in a beautiful area with a stream nearby, although access to the stream is currently closed. The road and spurs are paved, but parking spurs may not be level. All campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and vault toilets and potable water are nearby. Amenities include a dumpster, picnic tables, water faucets, and restrooms. Within 10 miles, there is a grocery store, laundry, lookout tower, movie theater, overlook ATV/OHV trails, rock climbing, hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, nature center, and picnic area. The North Fork of the San Jacinto River is next to the campground, but it is closed to public access by the Forest in order to protect the mountain yellow-legged frog.
