What others are saying about this campground
Independence Campground is a beautiful and serene BLM primitive campground located off Highway 395, about an hour south of Bishop and half an hour north of Alabama Hills. The campground is nestled between the majestic Eastern Sierras and White Mountains, with a creek running through the entrance. There are 2 pull through sites for trailers and 1 ADA accessible site, each with a fire pit and table. There is a .5 mile trail to the side of the campground and plenty of spots with picnic benches and fire pits. There is little protection from the sun, so it is not recommended for summer months. The campground is well maintained with clean bathrooms and a friendly camp host. There is no water, electrical, or sewer, so campers should come prepared. The cost is only $5 a night, making it a great deal for the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere.
