GenieSummary

This county park is a great spot for an overnight stay or a weekend getaway. With beautiful views of the Eastern Sierra and Mount Whitney, this campground is ideally located just off 395 at the base of Onion Valley Road. The campground features fire pits, picnic tables, and water, as well as a small creek running through the site. The sites are close together and the back half of the park offers freestyle camping. There are shade trees at some sites and interesting walking trails that lead to town. Native American grinding stones can also be observed on these trails. The restroom consists of a two seat vault toilet. The campground is kid and pet friendly and payment is made via reservation app. There is no host or turn around, and the road is rough getting in. This is a great spot to explore the area, with the movie museum in Lone Pine, Alabama Hills, and the old Hatchery just north of Independence all nearby.
