Salt Point State Park is a beautiful and tranquil campground located on the California Coast, north of Bodega Bay and Jenner. It is a great destination for families, offering a 1 mile long hike along the rocky cliffs with sandstone formations to Stump Beach, a protected lagoon great for kids, and plenty of wildflowers in season. The campground features potable water spouts, clean bathrooms with flush toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, food lockers, drinking water, and a food box. The sites are spread out, giving campers their own slice of this Northern California paradise. There are plenty of flat parking pads for RV campers, yet sites are thickly wooded and appropriately spaced to have an awesome tent camping experience as well. Visitors can also explore the nearby coast and tidepools, hike and bike in the area, and learn about the fascinating California history. With its peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking views, and family-friendly activities, Salt Point State Park is the perfect place to relax and explore the beauty of the California coast.
From The Campground
Rocky promontories, panoramic views, kelp-dotted coves, and the dramatic sounds of pounding surf; open grasslands, forested hills, pristine prairies, and pygmy forests—you can experience all of these coastal wonders within the Salt Point State Park. With 20 miles of hiking trails, over six miles of rugged coastline, and an underwater park, you can enjoy a variety of picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, skin and SCUBA diving, and camping. Gerstle Cove campground is situated atop the coastal bluffs on the ocean side of Highway One and offers 30 family campsites. All campsites, with the exception of our overflow camping, are equipped with a fire-ring, picnic table, and food locker. The campgrounds have drinking water and restrooms but no showers. A dump station is not available. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times and are not permitted on the trails or on the beaches. They must be kept in a tent or vehicle at night.
