What others are saying about this campground
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is a great camping destination for those looking for a peaceful outdoor experience in the wine country. The campground is set around an open meadow and is well maintained with flush toilets, running water, showers, picnic tables, and fire rings. The campground offers a range of decent sites, some with more shade and amenities than others. Sonoma Creek runs along the campground and there is a waterfall a short hike away. The park is also home to the Jack London Historical State Park, the Robert Ferguson Observatory, and several wineries and tasting rooms located around the town of Kenwood. The campground is close to Santa Rosa, where you can pick up anything you need. There are campsites that run along the creek which are preferred for the opportunity to see wildlife at night and for the kids to play in the water. There is free WiFi with limited bandwidth at the visitor’s center and an option to pay for premium internet at a reasonable daily or weekly rate. Firewood and bagged ice are available at the visitor’s center. There are also glamping sites available with furnished teepee tents, chairs, and private portapotty. Be aware that some trails in the park remain closed due to the fires of 2017, and that yellow jackets may be present depending on the time of year.
