Rivernook Campground in Kernville, CA is a spacious campground that offers riverfront sites. Although its roads and sites are dirt, they are level and fairly well-maintained. The bathrooms are reasonably clean, but often run out of toilet paper during the day. Soap is available at the sinks, and free showers are available for use. The spring is a beautiful time to visit Rivernook, as there are lots of wildflowers to explore. Unfortunately, the recent flooding has caused some damage to the park, and the roads going up the mountain are currently closed. Despite this, Rivernook is still definitely worth visiting, especially for those interested in Sequoia trees. It is recommended to bring your own shade, as the summer can be hot and there is little natural shade available. The permanent resident sites are not always well-maintained, which can be a cause for concern. There is little to no cable available, but it is possible to mirror your phone to the TV and use a DVD player. The town of Kernville, located nearby, has great restaurants and a lovely market for groceries and camping supplies. The campground has recently changed management, and unfortunately, the new staff are not as helpful and knowledgeable as the previous team. Additionally, there is no one patrolling at night, which means that some guests can be noisy throughout the night. Despite this, many visitors still find Rivernook a worthwhile destination.
