This campground is a hidden gem located in a secluded redwood forest near Saratoga, about 45 minutes drive away. Campsites are large and well-suited for multiple tents, and the nature walk behind the visitor center is a great spot to find wading holes full of crawdads and salamanders. Be sure to bring bug spray in late June as the mosquitos and Yellowjackets can be plentiful. There are plenty of trees to climb for the kiddos, and a creek with a sandy shore for an afternoon cool down. The campground has restrooms, fire pits, picnic tables, and food lockers. Dogs are not allowed in the visitor center. Firewood must be brought in as it is prohibited to collect it here. The sun sets late at 8, so be sure to wear clothing that covers your whole body and bring deet to protect from the mosquitoes. There are plenty of trails to explore, including the Peters Creek Loop, and Tiptoe Falls is a great spot for kids. The campground is located in a beautiful redwood grove with large campsites and a lot of space. There is a hike-in camp site that is a 3 mile hike and must be reserved ahead of time. Showers, bathrooms, fire pits, and a nearby pond for fishing are all available. Be sure to pack for colder weather if visiting in April.
