GenieSummary

This campground is a great spot for those looking for a peaceful, secluded getaway. Located 15-20 miles off the highway, the campground is nestled atop a hill and offers 7 designated campsites with covered structures, picnic tables, and fire pits. There are also a few additional overflow areas for parking and camping. The sites are suitable for tents, vans, RVs, and very small trailers. The road leading up to the campground is narrow and has a few tight switchbacks near the top, but is well maintained and suitable for 4x4 vehicles. There is a pit toilet, but no trash receptacles, so visitors should bring their own toilet paper. Verizon reception is great and Sprint reception is decent. The views from the campground are beautiful and the area is clean and quiet. During the day, temperatures reach into the 60s and at night they drop to the low 40s. There is limited hiking available on the fire roads, and the campground is popular for shooting. Unfortunately, the wasps and heat can be unbearable and the campground is highly trafficked, so most campers only stay one night.

From The Campground

Williams Hill Recreation Area is a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) managed campground located in Central Coast Field Office area. The campground offers hunting opportunities for upland game bird, small game, and big game like deer and wild pigs. Varmint (non-game) hunting is also allowed. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife regulates the hunting seasons for different species and the types of firearms allowed for use. The campground also allows OHV recreation but available route mileage is extremely limited (11 miles of graveled road); open routes are marked with brown, numbered fiberglass posts. There are no designated hiking trails at Williams Hill. Target shooting is allowed on BLM lands except when prohibited by other applicable laws and regulations.
