From The Campground

The Alabama Hills Recreation Area is a dispersed camping area managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The area offers six porta potties for restroom use and allows campfires in existing fire rings with a California campfire permit. Dispersed camping is limited to 14 days per year within the Bishop Field Office boundaries. A free permit will soon be required for dispersed camping in the area. The desert vegetation is fragile and visitors are asked to not crush the brush.
