This campground is perfect for group camping and is great for a quick overnight after hiking in Big Pine and Whitney. It has a picnic table made for 20 people, bathrooms that are clean and close by, and bear boxes that are big and easy to use. The campfires have grills on them already and the campground is close to the town of Lone Pine, which has a little market and several restaurants. The ground is fairly hard and not much shade, so plan your gear accordingly. There are a number of bear proof garbage containers in the campground, and a recycling center for glass, plastic, and cans near the entrance. It is best to book your campground ahead of time as sites can fill up quickly.
