GenieSummary

Summary: Tuttle Creek Campground is a great rustic campground for RV campers, with over 80 first-come, first-served gravel sites nestled in the stunning shadow of the eastern Sierras. The campground offers no hookups, but the sites are level and equipped with fire rings, lantern hooks, and concrete picnic tables. The vault toilets are numerous and well-maintained. The campground is a ten-minute drive to the beautiful Alabama Hills, where visitors can explore and take short hikes. The views from the campground are amazing, with breathtaking views of Mount Whitney and the surrounding valley. The unpaved road leading to the campground is well-maintained but has gnarly speed bumps. Visitors should expect to hear a steady stream of fighter stealth jets from Edwards Air Force Base flying overhead from about 8 am to 8 pm. The mosquitoes come out in droves at dusk, but visitors can mitigate the problem by using repellent.

From The Campground

Tuttle Campground is located within the Bishop Field Office Resource Management Area. Visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and off-highway vehicle riding. The campground has established fire rings and a 10 mph speed limit for motor vehicles. Off-road vehicles must have a CA Green Sticker, Red Sticker, have a California nonresident OHV use permit or be legally registered in another state. The water system at Tuttle Campground failed to comply with reporting requirements during 2022, but the water is safe to drink. Visitors are responsible for knowing area rules and regulations, which are enforceable under U.S. Code of Federal Regulations and violations are punishable with fines up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment for not longer than 12 months.
