From The Campground
Castle Rock State Park is a beautiful park located in Los Gatos, California. The park offers a variety of activities including hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Dogs are not allowed in the park, but nearby Sanborn County Park allows dogs. The park is also home to the Santa Cruz District Wilderness Patrol program, which seeks new volunteers to help with roving interpretation, basic trail maintenance, visitor services, and resource conservation. The park is Crumb Clean, and visitors are encouraged to watch a short video to learn about the marbled murrelet, an endangered bird that nests in the park, and how to protect it. The park prohibits glass containers, smoking, firearms, and fires except in designated fire rings in the Castle Rock Trail Camp. Firewood is sold at the camp. Visitors are also asked to respect private property rights and stay on designated trails. Natural and cultural features are protected by law, and visitors are asked not to pick wildflowers, mushrooms, or other plants, or remove any park features. Weddings, parties, and special event permits are available by contacting the park. The Portola and Castle Rock Foundation is the official state-chartered cooperating association supporting an interpretive agenda at these parks.
