Montana de Oro is a beautiful coastal state park and campground located in central California. It is a short distance from the beach and Spooners Cove, and is great for swimming. There are about 50 campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. The campground is surrounded by hills, and is great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. There are no showers, but there are vault toilets and potable water. Primitive sites are scattered throughout the park, and offer a peaceful, secluded camping experience. The area is great for wildflower viewing in the spring, and there are plenty of trails for all levels of hikers. The campground is popular and reservations should be made early. Rigs over 32 feet are not recommended. The area is also known for its wildlife, so be aware that raccoons may attack any food items left out.
