From The Campground

Juanita Lake Campground is a great place for fishing enthusiasts, with planted rainbow trout and a fishing platform. The lake level remains fairly constant all season, and the water temperature stays very cold all summer. The campground also offers hiking trails, nature viewing, and non-motorized boating. There is a paved 1.5 mile barrier-free trail that circles Juanita Lake, and for the more ambitious hiker, there is a 6 mile hike with a 2,700 foot elevation gain climbing up to Ball Mountain Lookout. The area is good for riparian wildlife along the lake shore and forest birding. Some small mammals frequent the campsites. A current California Campfire Permit is required to use a camp stove, barbecue or have a campfire outside the developed campground. Local fire restrictions supersede the campfire permit. Inquire at the Ranger Station before having a fire.
