Leo Carrillo State Park in Malibu, CA offers large and spacious campsites with easy access to the beach. The park is quiet and peaceful, making it perfect for a relaxing vacation. Reservations can be made through the California State Parks website. Showers require tokens, but other than that, the park has great 4G reception and a cool camp store that sells firewood. Tide pools are a must-see activity for kids, and the beach itself offers stunning views of the ocean as well as great surf spots. The campsite is located on the landward side of PCH, so it feels secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of the road. The park is family-friendly, with plenty of activities to keep both children and adults entertained.
From The Campground
Leo Carrillo State Park is a beautiful park located 28 miles northwest of Santa Monica on the Pacific Coast Highway. The park features 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing, and beachcombing. Visitors can explore tidepools, coastal caves, and reefs. The park also has giant sycamores that shade the main campgrounds and offers back-country hiking. Junior Rangers and campfire programs are offered during the summer, and school field trips are offered during the school year. The park was named after Leo Carrillo, an actor, preservationist, and conservationist who served on the California Beach and Parks commission for eighteen years.
