What others are saying about this campground
The Salton Sea SRA is a unique and interesting campground with stunning views of the Salton Sea and the Santa Rosa Mountains. It is a great spot to observe the migrating birds, as well as the local wildlife. The sites are closely spaced, but they are all full hookups with electric, water and sewer. The campground also has a visitor center, nature trail, and solar showers. The campground is located on a large parking lot, and the sites offer a view of the Salton Sea and the Santa Rosa Mountains. The sites are close together and the hookups are basic, but the views are stunning and the area is a great spot to observe the migrating birds. The campground is also conveniently located near Joshua Tree National Park, making it a great base for exploring the area.

From The Campground

Salton Sea State Recreation Area covers 14 miles of the northeastern shore of the Salton Sea, one of the world's largest inland seas and lowest spots on earth at -227 below sea level. The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including camping, boating, water skiing, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and photography. The increasing salinity in the Salton Sea basin has limited the number of types of fish that can be found there, and most fish currently caught are Tilapia. The park has a developed campground, en route campsites, family campsites, group campsites, hike or bike campsites, primitive camping, RV sites with hookups, and RV dump station. The park also has hiking trails, historical/cultural sites, picnic areas, an environmental learning/visitor center, exhibits and programs, swimming areas, nature and wildlife viewing areas, windsurfing/surfing areas, museums, family programs, and geocaching. Dogs are allowed in developed areas such as roads and campgrounds, but not on beaches or trails. Dogs must be on a leash no more than 6' long and under the owner's immediate control at all times.
