What others are saying about this campground
Morro Bay State Park is an old campground built in the 1930s that has been well-maintained, but in need of updates. The campsites offer a mix of dirt/grass with paved parking, and some are shaded while others receive full sun. Though the sites are a bit close, some have vegetation for a bit of separation. Sites 1-30 have water and electricity without sewer, though there is a dump station, which incurs an extra $10 fee. The park is in a beautiful setting, with a walk to the bay and State Natural History museum. One positive aspect of the campground is its proximity to the Embarcadero and Morro Rock. However, the showers and restrooms are old and in need of repair, with token-based laundry and showers that require multiple loops and can take upwards of 45 seconds to heat up to luke-warm temperatures. The bathrooms lack paper towels, soap, and hot water, making it challenging for campers. Additionally, the showers are moldy, making it necessary to bring sandals. The campsites major downside is the amount of loud crows present, which can disrupt sleep in the early morning. While Wi-Fi is available, the signal may not reach some areas of the campground.
