Lake Hemet is a picturesque campground located in a beautiful area with mature trees and shade. The staff is friendly and the park is kept clean. The weekends get busy with a lot of tent campers and the full hookups are a good distance from the lake, about a 1/2 mile walk. The park has a large family-friendly atmosphere, but the access roads are narrow and backing into sites can be difficult. There are also a lot of full-time campers with semi-permanent set-ups, including storage sheds and porches. Over Memorial Day weekend, the format changed and you are no longer allowed to pull up anywhere you wish and camp. There are not many shaded sites, but you can dry camp on any open area. Unfortunately, there are no employees around at night to enforce rules, so it can be noisy and generators may be running after quiet time.
