Located in Old Station, CA, Summit Lake North Campground is a smaller campground consisting of two loops, A & B, with about 40 sites. The campgrounds are well-maintained and come equipped with bear lockers and ample space for RVs. While no hookups are available, drinking water is provided and restrooms are available, though there are no showers on site. The road into the park and RV sites can accommodate big rigs. The generator hours are a bit odd, but only briefly needed in the morning to fix meals. The campground is conveniently located about halfway on the park road, making it an ideal spot for exploring Lassens many trails and vistas. Plus, its a great base camp for backpackers doing multi-day hikes in Lassen. Visitors to the area can enjoy a walk around the lake in the evenings and observe some of the interesting wildflowers that thrive there. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and although the sites fill up fast, the experience is well worth the stay.
