What others are saying about this campground
Samuel P. Taylor State Park campground is a great place to camp and explore the surrounding area. The campground is nestled among tall redwoods and fir trees, providing plenty of shade and a cool atmosphere in the summer. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, such as swimming at Ink Wells, hiking at Devils Gulch, and horseback riding at Five Brooks Ranch. The camp sites include fire rings and flattened areas with picnic tables. There are also narrow roads winding through the trees that are not suitable for larger rigs. Be aware that there is no railing or fencing around the cabins to protect children from the steep drop off or the traffic below. The campground is close to Point Reyes National Seashore, San Rafael, Olema, Novato and Marshall, making it a great spot for exploring the area. Stop at the nearby grocery store for fresh bread, wine, and cheese from Cowboy Creamery, then head to Hog Island for shucking your own oysters. Dont forget to donate to the campgrounds future!

From The Campground
Samuel P. Taylor State Park is a beautiful park located 15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The park offers a mild climate, varying from dense fog and rain to full sun. Layered clothing is recommended. The park has several rules and regulations to protect its natural and cultural resources, including prohibitions on mushroom collecting, creek access/use during spawning season, firearms and hunting, and drones. Dogs are allowed only in certain areas and must be on a leash. Bicycles are allowed only on certain trails. The park offers group camping sites for weddings, family reunions, social and athletic clubs, educational providers, and corporate groups. The park has several trails, but some may be inaccessible or closed during certain seasons. The park charges day use and camping fees, and payment is accepted by cash or check only. The park dump station is out of service, but dump facilities and water are available for a fee at the nearby Olema RV Resort & Campground.
