GenieSummary

Not much in the way of amenities, but you cant beat the price. Sunset Campground in Death Valley National Park is a large, open gravel parking lot with 270 sites marked off with white paint. With no hookups, this is a great spot for dry camping and is centrally located for all the main sights in the park. It is close to Furnace Creek Resort, the Visitors Center, and the bike path to the Borax Works. There are four restrooms with running water, dish wash stations, dumpsters, cooking oil recycling, and three separate dump stations with good water. Cell service and wifi are available for a fee, and the campground is well supervised. Though it is a gravel parking lot, there are spectacular views, and during our visit the campground was less than 10% full. Generators are allowed from 7am to 9pm, and there is no air conditioning needed. There is no shade or wind protection, and the desert can get quite hot and dusty. There are also snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, and coyotes in the area, so visitors should be aware of their surroundings.

From The Campground
