The Point Mugu NAS campground is an ideal beachside camping destination for those with access to the military MWR program. Located right on the beach, the campground offers a variety of camping and lodging options, from tent camping and yurts to car and RV camping with full hookups, cabins, and a beach motel. The outdoor recreation facility provides beach and camping gear to check out, and staff to advise about local hiking and recreational trips in the area. The beach is beautiful and not as heavily used as nearby state beaches, and there are a few base eateries and a grocery store just a few minutes away. The campground is also conveniently located near Ventura, where visitors can take a ferry to the Channel Islands for day trips. The tent sites are basic and close together, but the views are worth it. The RV area is heavily used but clean and well maintained. The cabins are located in a secluded area, and the beach motel is adjacent. The campground is in need of renovation, but the beach is across the street, and the Navy Exchange down the street has camping supplies. The cost for a tent site is $10. Mosquitoes can be a problem at night, but the campground is a great spot to fish, watch sea lions and birds, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

NAVBASE Ventura County is a National Defense Resource offering a unique combination of all aspects of Naval Operations and mission capabilities to COMPACFLT / C3F. NBVC Port Operations coordinates all contract (tugs, pilots, fuel, and hazardous material disposal) and non-contract port services to visiting Navy ships, hosted tenants, and vessels within the Southwest Region. Personnel authorized to participate in MWR activities and facilities includes Active Duty. Reservist. Retirees, Department of Defense employees, their families and their guests, unless otherwise stated.
