What others are saying about this campground
El Chorro Regional Park in San Luis Obispo is a great option for RV camping. The park offers spacious sites with fire rings and picnic tables, as well as a dry camping loop with direct line of sight to the highway but still manageable noise levels. The FHU loops have lots of shade and hedges separating sites. The park also features a nice off-leash dog area, a botanical garden that costs $10 to see, and a golf course. The biggest challenge to this park is the lack of a dump station for those dry camping, but water is available. The park is generally clean, and the bathroom facilities are clean, although some reviewers observe problems with maintenance and cleanliness. Some areas of the park may be affected by traffic noise from the nearby highway. Overall, El Chorro is a good option for those looking for RV camping in San Luis Obispo, although some reviewers express disappointment with the cost versus the quality of facilities.

From The Campground
El Chorro Regional Park and Campground is located between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. Once used extensively by local ranchers for dairy production and cattle grazing, this land was acquired by the federal government in the 1940s to establish Camp San Luis Obispo. The camp was used for training purposes by the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. In 1972, the land was deeded to the County, during President Nixon’s “Legacy of Parks” program, to be managed as a natural park and recreational area for the citizens and visitors of San Luis Obispo County. Use El Chorro as your personal base camp to explore the Central Coast or simply spend a pleasant day in the park enjoying the view from its trails. Bring your golf clubs too. Dairy Creek Golf Course is right next door!
