The lake was beautiful and refreshing. Lake McSwain Campgrounds is a great spot for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. It is located close to the lake, with full hookups and 30 amp power available. The sites have picnic ramadas and are of varying sizes, so be sure to do your homework. The lake is beautiful and refreshing, and the on-site store is a plus. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms and showers are not the cleanest but are still better than a pit toilet. Be aware that the summer months can be dry and there are lots of foxtails, so be aware if you have fur babies. Flies can also be a bit of a problem. Cell service is spotty, and the photos on the website are deceptive. However, the campground is close, clean, and friendly, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
