What others are saying about this campground
Steep Ravine campground is an incredible place to stay with million dollar views just 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is located at the southern end of Stinson Beach, and is the number one most difficult to reserve spot in all of California. There are cabins and campsites available, each with their own unique layout and personality. The cabins have fixed sleeping platforms, a built-in table, and two hard wooden benches, and the campsites have a table and bench, wood grill area, and easy access to the restrooms, potable water, and trash cans. The campgrounds are surrounded by breathtaking western skyline and crisp coastal air, and are home to an abundance of wildlife, including deer, wild miniature ocean bunnies, and even a great white shark! There is an honor system for buying firewood bundles with kindling, and flush toilets at the parking lot. It is a classic, twisty ride on Highway 1 to get to the entrance, and then another steep, curvy ride down to the campground. It is about a mile into Stinson Beach if you need provisions or restaurants, and you can hike right onto the Steep Ravine / Matt Davis trails and climb all over Mt. Tamalpais. Bring layers of functional clothes since the weather on the coast of the SF bay can be anything from roasting to foggy frigid cold during the day and night year round. Stay at the tent sites for a couple days with the gorgeous oceanfront views and location, and you wont be disappointed.
