GenieSummary

Ramhorn Springs Campground is around 2-3 miles off the 395 and offers a variety of spaces, mainly pull-through. You may have difficulty turning around at the end of the campground if you have a bigger rig. Although there is a nearby bubbly creek, the site generally doesnt have any bugs or mosquitos. During the summer, the campground may get busy when a few groups of contractors and their teams use it as home base to clear fire breaks around the 395. If youre looking for peace and solitude, youll love having the campground to yourself, especially during your stopover at the end of June. The sunset is amazing, and youll spot a variety of unique birds in the area. The lake is swimmable and offers lovely views. However, you may have to deal with bugs at night, but thats not surprising in a campground. At times, the gate may be closed early in the evening, so its best to arrive early and avoid any surprises. The site is right off the highway, and it might be challenging to find if there are no neighboring campers. The roads that lead to the spots are a little rutted, and low-profile vehicles may find it challenging to access. Theres no name or information on the bulletin board, but there are around five to six spaces available. Although there are no bathrooms, trash, or water available, youll find water spigots conveniently located throughout the site. The night is generally quiet, save for sporadic drivers honking for no apparent reason. Around 9 pm, youll hear gunshots that may last for about an hour due to nearby hunting activities. Overall, Ramhorn Springs Campground is a great place to rest and gather yourself for a few days, and the best part is, its free! Visitors rave about the clean sites and bathrooms, and the friendly camp host takes immense pride in maintaining them. The tree coverage is refreshing, and although theres some traffic noise from the highway, its generally quiet during the night. There are new entrances since the previous reviews, and the site now had three new vault toilets and a new sign. It accommodates rigs and campers of all sizes, including vans, tents, tear drops, and class A. Its definitely a place youll want to visit again.

From The Campground

Ramhorn Springs is a small water source located in a high desert setting that has been utilized by travelers and ranchers for many years. A 10 unit campground has been constructed adjacent to it. The facilities include an informational kiosk, picnic tables, fire rings, trash cans, a horse corral and one vault toilet. The surface in the campground is packed earth and gravel. There is no potable water. There is no fee for the use of the campground but a donation is requested to assist with the routine maintenance costs. There is not much shade in the campground, therefore the most enjoyable time to visit this campground is during the cooler months of the year. Campground is open all year, however, access is limited during wet weather.
