Travis AFB is conveniently located in Fairfield CA, only 35 minutes from San Francisco. Tent and RV camp sites are available for a reasonable cost and the sites are well spaced with some trees. The BX and commissary are very close by, as well as the Base hospital. There may be some traffic noise from the main gate entrance. Check-in is easy, but the office is only open for limited hours on weekday mornings and afternoons. TV cable is available, however you need to acquire a digital converter box from Comcast. Wireless internet is available for an additional fee. There is a lack of things to do at the campground and the grass in the pet area looks dried up. All in all, the location and reasonable nightly cost make this a worthwhile stop.
